Comparison | Ephesians 2:10
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand,
that we should walk in them,”
Do you ever feel like you don’t have what it takes? Do you ever compare yourself to someone and say I
wish I was like them?
Comparison is a downward spiral leading us into questioning our identity, making us feel inadequate,
and eventually leading to self hatred. I think We have all found ourselves. in situations at work, school,
even Church, where we have looked at another person and thought to ourselves “I wish I was like them!
Unfortunately, the thought doesn’t end there. Far too often the enemy chimes in and adds all kinds of
lies to our minds.
Those lies sounds like:
- You’re not good enough because you’re not like them.
- You won’t be accepted or loved. You will be rejected because you’re not like them
- The only way to be happy in life is to I be like them
Does that sound familiar?
The enemy attacks us in our identity by comparing us to others so we would disregard who God truly
made you to be and what we are to accomplish on the earth.
So what do we do?
- Recognise it’s happening by asking the Lord if you are comparing yourself and ask Him to show youthe lies that have been spoken to your mind because of it. (Write down your answers)
- Replace the lies with the truth of who God says you are.
Our Creator in heaven, designed us with careful intention and care.
As He was creating you, He dreamt about who you’d become and what you would do here on the Earth.
He put in you characteristics of Himself that pleases Him and make him excited to spend time with you.!
Why would you ever want to change his perfect creation? Everything he makes is good in his eyes!
Pray with me:
Father God. I come to you because I need your help. I ask that you would forgive me for comparing
myself to this other person. I am sorry that I thought that I would be better if I was like them. Forgive me
for thinking that how you created me was not enough. Father God, what is the truth? Show me who I am.
Show me how to love myself the way you love me. Reveal to me the unique and beautiful ways you have
made me. Guide me in confidence and strength and help me to accomplish what you want me to do
here on the earth. It is in your name Jesus that I pray this amen!
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full
well- Psalm 139:14
