Welcome to Day 15 of the MADE FOR MORE podcast! I’m Jacqui, and today, we’re talking about being empowered by the Holy Spirit. God doesn’t just call you to your purpose—He equips you with His Spirit to carry it out. Let’s dive in and explore how His power works in and through you.
Scripture
Let’s start today with a powerful scripture from “Acts 1:8 But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.”
Reflection
In Acts 1:8, Jesus promises His followers that they will receive “power and ability” when the Holy Spirit comes upon them. This power is not for their own benefit but for a greater purpose: to be His witnesses, spreading the message of His love, hope, and salvation to the entire world. Jesus begins with Jerusalem and expands outward to Judea, Samaria, and eventually “to the ends of the earth;’ illustrating the vast scope of this mission. This verse reminds us that as followers of Christ, we are part of something far greater than ourselves. The power of the Holy Spirit equips us for a purpose beyond our own capabilities. On our own, we might feel limited or uncertain, but with the Spirit, we have the strength, wisdom, and courage to share the message of Jesus. This calling isn’t just for a select few; it’s for all believers, reminding us that we each play a role in sharing God’s love in our communities and beyond.
Take a moment to reflect on how God has intentionally designed your life with purpose. How does the truth that you have been given power to make a difference in your community shape the way you see yourself today? For me: To fully step into what the Lord has planned for me, I’ve learned that I need to get out of the way. It all begins with surrender, because it’s not about me—it’s about Him. I am simply a vessel for His glory to be revealed to the world.
Application: Being a witness
Jesus calls us to be His witnesses. Consider how you can reflect His love and truth to those around you. This doesn’t always mean preaching; it might look like showing kindness, listening with compassion, or offering encouragement. Think about the ways you can share Jesus in your everyday interactions. Reflect on what it means to receive power and ability from the Holy Spirit. Are there areas in your life where you feel limited or uncertain? Trust that the Holy Spirit equips you to face challenges and empowers you to fulfil your purpose with strength beyond your own. Jesus’ commission to reach “the ends of the earth” shows the vastness of God’s plan. Each of us has a part to play, whether locally or globally, in sharing His message. Ask God to show you where He is calling you to serve and share His love, trusting that the Spirit will guide you every step of the way.
Prayer: Let’s pray together.
Father, thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit, who empowers and equips me to be Your witness. I pray for courage and strength to live out this calling in my everyday life, sharing Your love, truth, and hope with those around me. Help me to trust in the power of the Spirit, especially when I feel limited or unsure. May my life reflect Your goodness, and may I be a faithful witness to Your message, reaching out in love and kindness. Show me where You are calling me to serve, and lead me as I seek to be part of Your mission to bring hope to the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
