Day16 – Overcoming Doubt

It’s Day 16 of the MADE FOR MORE podcast, and today we’re tackling one of the biggest challenges to walking confidently in your calling – doubt. Whether it’s doubt in yourself or in God’s plan for you, today’s devotional will help you overcome those obstacles with faith and trust in His promises.

Scripture

Let’s start today with a powerful scripture from “James 1:6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”

Reflection

James 1:6 speaks to the importance of faith and trust when we bring our needs and requests to God. It encourages us to believe wholeheartedly, without doubt, because doubt can make us unstable, like a wave tossed by the wind. This verse reminds us that God calls us to approach Him with confidence, fully trusting that He hears us and that He is faithful to respond according to His will. Doubt often stems from uncertainty or fear, but when we ask God for guidance, wisdom, or provision, He wants us to have faith in His goodness and His promises. Trusting God doesn’t mean we’ll always get what we want immediately or understand everything, but it does mean we can have peace, knowing that He is at work. This verse encourages us to root our prayers in the assurance that God is listening and will act in His perfect timing and way.

Take a moment to reflect on how God has designed your life with purpose. How does the truth of believing without doubt shape the way you see yourself today? For me: I’ve had many moments of doubt, questioning my abilities, but the Lord has faithfully restored me. I’ve learned to believe that He will do far more than I could ever imagine, dream, or think—and all the glory belongs to Him. My story is still unfolding, and so is yours.

Application: Approaching God with confidence

Now, let’s talk about how to apply this truth to your life. Reflect on areas in your life where you may feel hesitant or uncertain. When you bring these things to God, remember that He wants you to approach Him with confidence. Trust that He is a loving Father who hears your prayers and cares deeply for you. Doubt can be a natural part of our journey, but when it arises, remind yourself of God’s faithfulness and past provision. Consider keeping a journal of answered prayers or moments of God’s faithfulness as reminders of His unchanging character. Faith helps to anchor us, especially in difficult or uncertain times. When we choose to trust God, we find a steady foundation that keeps us from being “blown and tossed” by the ups and downs of life. Ask God for strength to stand firm in your faith, regardless of circumstances.

Prayer: Let’s pray together.

Father, thank You that I can trust completely. Help me to approach You with confidence, believing that You hear and respond to my prayers. Strengthen my faith, especially in times of doubt, and remind me of Your faithfulness and love. I ask for Your guidance in every area of my life, and I trust that You will provide in Your perfect timing. Help me to stand firm in my faith anchored by Your promises, so that I won’t be swayed by fear or uncertainty. Thank You for Your unfailing love and for always being with us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God has equipped you with His Spirit, and He is with you every step of the way. Keep trusting, keep believing, and know that He is at work, even when you can’t see the full picture. Your story is still unfolding, and His plans for you are far greater than anything you could imagine. Step forward in confidence, and let your faith in Him be the foundation on which you build your life. I’ll see you tomorrow for Day 17 – until then, remember: you were made for more.
