Hope Of Christmas Devotional: DAY 6

Hope of Christmas Devotional by Nigel Santos

Scripture:

“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” – Luke 2:14

Devotional:

“Glory to God in the highest.” These words were sung by angels on the night of Jesus’ birth—a moment so profound that heaven itself couldn’t stay silent. The angels announced not only the arrival of the Savior, but also the gift of peace.

It’s amazing to think about this kind of peace. The world Jesus was born into wasn’t peaceful—there was political unrest, oppression, and hardship everywhere. And if we’re honest, the world we live in isn’t much different. Life feels chaotic. There’s stress, worry, and uncertainty that weigh on us.

But the peace Jesus offers is not about perfect circumstances. It’s deeper than that. It’s the kind of peace that quiets our souls even when life feels overwhelming. It’s peace that comes from knowing we are loved, forgiven, and held by God.

And notice the second part of the verse: “to those on whom his favor rests.” This peace is for all who will receive Jesus. It’s a reminder that we don’t earn God’s favor—it’s His gift to us through Jesus. Because of Him, we can live each day with hope, knowing God is with us and for us.

Reflection Questions:

What areas of your life feel chaotic or stressful right now?

How can you intentionally invite Jesus’ peace into those places?

When was the last time you paused to simply give glory to God for who He is and what He’s done in your life?

Prayer:

“Lord, glory to You in the highest! Thank You for sending Jesus into our broken world to bring peace, hope, and salvation. I need Your peace today—help me trust You in the midst of life’s challenges. Thank You for Your favor, for loving me even when I fall short. Teach me to rest in Your peace and share it with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
