Seeking Jesus by Ross Moerschell

Scripture:
Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw His star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.” – Matthew 2:2
Devotional:
In the Old Testament book of Isaiah, Jesus had been prophesied that “He would be a light to the Gentiles.”
During the time Herod was king, a bright star appeared in the sky. Now there were some wise men whom had come from the east that saw this star. They had faith this was the light Isaiah talked about. They then followed the bright star to Jerusalem where king Herod was and he was deeply disturbed. He was disturbed because if this was truly the new king of the Jews that would mean it would be the end of his reign. Then upon hearing the news of the Messiah he called a meeting with the leading priests and the teachers of religious law to find out where this king was suppose to be born. They told him “in Bethlehem in Judea”. Herod then informed the wise men the location of where Jesus would be born. When the wise men continued on their way they saw the star again and it stopped over the place where the child was. They then followed the star to not only see the king of the Jews, but to bow down to him in deep reverence and worship Him.
Questions
-Are we actively seeking Jesus like the wise men ?
-If not, what’s stopping that?
Prayer
Dear God
Thank you for the reminder of what this season is all about. Please help us put aside any obstacles that might be stopping us from coming to you. We pray for the wisdom and the guidance like the wisemen following the star to bow down and worship you.
