The Global Worship Radio Story – Connecting a Generation to Jesus

It might sound a bit surprising, but most Christian radio stations today are not really aimed at serving young people. To be clear it’s not that they dislike when young people listen or that they want bad things for young people. They are just not the target demographic. And honestly, that’s a pretty big issue.

Research from around the world shows that the majority of people who come to faith in Jesus do so before the age of 18. Yet, despite this, most Christian radio doesn’t really speak to teenagers—especially in the way they’re used to engaging with the world. Even more worrying, studies suggest that many teens who grow up going to church stop attending once they leave high school. Gen Z—the group born roughly between 1997 and 2012—might not be filling church pews (only around 11% attend regularly), but a massive 95% are active on social media.

What an opportunity.

Even kids as young as 8–12 are regularly using platforms like YouTube and Instagram, with nearly 40% of them already on social media. For Gen Z, social media isn’t just entertainment—it shapes the way they think, what they value, how they make choices, and yes, even what kind of music they listen to. Platforms like TikTok and YouTube are the main places they go to discover new artists and songs.

This is exactly where GlobalWorshipRadio.com comes in. We want to meet young people right where they are—online. And more importantly, we want to help them discover music that connects them to faith in Jesus.

So why create yet another Christian radio station?

Because most of the existing ones just aren’t designed with young people in mind. Many of them are supported by older listeners, which makes sense—those audiences are more financially stable and more likely to give. But this also means younger generations often get overlooked. And in a time when the world feels more confusing and overwhelming than ever, that’s not okay.

Global Worship Radio was born out of that need—right in the middle of the pandemic, in 2021. While the world was stuck indoors and trying to figure out how to stay connected, two guys from completely different parts of the world started talking about worship music on a podcast. That conversation between Nigel Santos, a young entrepreneur in the Philippines, and Chaz Lowder, a seasoned broadcaster from the U.S., sparked an idea. What if they could build a global worship community for young people—online?

And that’s exactly what happened.

Since then, Global Worship Radio has created a community that spans over 40 countries. We connect on platforms like WhatsApp, where people—from all sorts of backgrounds—come together to share music, encouragement, and faith. We’ve trained volunteers who are teachers, visual artists, lunch ladies, stay-at-home moms, missionaries, civil engineers, and RVers. It’s truly a mix of everyday people with a heart to see the next generation connect in worship of Jesus.

At the core of it all is one simple mission: connecting people to Jesus. Through prayer, the Word and worship of Jesus, we want to offer young people something real—something hopeful. A chance to discover faith that speaks to their hearts in a way that’s relevant, engaging, and true.

Your support helps make that happen. Whether it’s helping us train new volunteers, expand our reach, or just keep the station running, every bit of support helps us connect people to hope, joy, peace, faith—and to Jesus Himself.
